All of Houston is experiencing a period of explosive growth and with this growth comes dynamic opportunities for businesses and individuals alike. Southeast Houston is growing at a tremendous rate. New home construction, retail space and employment are all skyrocketing. Renovations and beautification of the main corridors of traffic are laying the foundation for a revitalized Houston area.
The Greater Southeast Management
District encompasses a large and
diverse area of central southeast Houston. An objective of
this section is to identify and delineate sub areas within the
district that either offer potential for retail development,
and/or are for all practical purposes associated with a
larger area of concentration located outside of the district.
Our basis of identifying each Neighborhood Market of Retail
Concentration (NMRC) included examination of the City of
Houston’s designated Super Neighborhoods located within the
Greater Southeast Management District, existing land use,
demographic characteristics, and man made and natural
boundaries. The City of Houston created the super
neighborhood initiative to encourage residents to
be more actively and effectively involved in their community.
The structure provides a venue to city government for input
into policy making, budgeting, planning, and service delivery
systems. The City has 88 Super Neighborhoods whose boundaries
are generally based upon major geographical physical features
and are grouped according to “contiguous communities that
share common physical characteristics, identity or
infrastructure”.
